Today i've been learning Monk tunes on this Eavestaff Minipiano. I really like it for its sharp sound. It has a prime spot in my rangey (!!!!) flat where the sun comes through some leaves outside the window. The piano was made in the fifties, which is probably the best decade for Monk. The early Blue Note recordings are definitely the best. Interesting how he seemed to falter a bit when he finally got his dues in the sixties. The arrangements became extended and less concise because of new technology I guess, but the Blue Note recordings are so lean, and the 3 minutes length works really well for his music.
